In the wake of the April 16, 2007 tragedy on the campus of Virginia Tech, the Manhattan Hokies, the Village Pourhouse and Disco Sushi Entertainment are pleased to present Maroon Effect, an annual night to remember and honor the victims of that tragic day.

The 2nd annual Maroon Effect 2008 event will take place on May 3, 2008 at the Village Pourhouse in downtown Manhattan. This year's event, starting at 4:00pm, will feature the official drink of the Kentucky Derby, the Maker’s Mint Julep, a Maker’s Mark Bourbon Tasting, a Maroon Effect Pama Margarita Station, Appetizers, and a live auction. Attendees will have the opportunity to bid on exciting prizes such as attending a Mets Batting Practice. Guests are encouraged to dress in full Kentucky Derby attire, as the best dressed Man and Woman will each receive a $100 bar tab to The Village Pourhouse.. MaroonEffect.org is a non profit (501(c)3 organization founded after the events of April 16th, 2007. The mission of the annual event is to "to forever honor the 32 victims of April 16, 2007." Starting in 2008, each year we will highlight one of the 32 individuals to serve as the organization's guiding light for that year. We will dedicate our fundraising efforts in support of the charity that best reflects the sprit of that individual and their family.

100% of the net proceeds raised at each Maroon Effect event will be donated to aid the healing process of those impacted by the tragedy and to honor the lives of those that were lost. The Manhattan Hokies created the Eternal Hokies Scholarship Fund, which will provide financial assistance to incoming Virginia Tech students from the Tri-State area.  Each year, an additional portion of the proceeds will be donated to a specific charity honoring one of the April 16th victims.

Maroon Effect will continue to raise funds on an annual basis to support this worthy cause and create a living legacy for those that were lost.
